Homemade Pau

My fren mother know how to make pau so i request to learn from her mom....
so i went to her house to learn it...funny thing is her mom dun really remember the recipe,so we jz do as wat her mom remember...
base on her mom recipe is use 1kg pau flour + 300g sugar + 300g shortening + 2 pek instant yeast + water have to estimate urself....
haha~~ so funny....aiyo last time ppl where got follow recipe geh...all also agak-agak one...
nvm...so we jz follow as is it...we plan to make vege pau n red bean pau n pandan lotus pau...
so here the result:-

tada ~ quite nice actually....hehe ^.^

later on when i back home, i do some recipe searching online....n i found out tat the shortening is not needed tat much....no wonder the pau a bit oily...haha~

after a few days, i try to make the pau myself at home follow the recipe i found online....
actually i mix a few recipe online to make tis ....
so here the recipe...

Ingredients:
500g pau flour, sifted (i use blue key brand)
6g instant yeast
100g sugar
50g shortening
240ml water

Filling :- vege(my mom make it), red bean and pandan lotus paste(buy the ready made)

Method:
1. Mix instant yeast and sugar in the water till dissolved.
2. Then mix everything together and knead into smooth and elastic dough.
3. Divide the dough into 50-60g dough. Put aside and let it prove until double its size(around 10minutes).
4. Roll dough into a round shape and add 1 tbsp of filling and pleat the top into a pau. Line pau with a piece of white paper(pau paper) and let it prove again for another 20 minutes.
5. Steam pau for about 15 minutes.

p/s:- to have a whiter pau, put so vinegar in the steam water...

I always thought make pau is harder than bake a cake...but after i try it out...i think is simple then bake a cake...so simple...
